QI Curriculum For Residency
The Department of Medicine (DOM) has initiated an innovative Quality Improvement Rotation called Rotation X for Internal Medicine (IM) residents. Its foundation is based on patient safety; timely care; efficiency; and effective, equitable, and patient centered care. IM residency has a longitudinal curriculum through their residency.
Our primary focus is on active learning with early resident engagement. Quality improvement curriculum includes workshops to improve patient safety. This longitudinal curriculum provides our resident with high-quality education, and ensures they have the Quality Improvement tools and resources to apply in clinical settings. We collaborate with various teams including CDI, HF, DM, nursing, and pharmacy, and have residents view their own quality data.
In addition to our QI curriculum, IM residents also have an opportunity to be microcredentialed in Quality Improvement ( microcredential programs) and participate in Quality Resident Council and Quality Improvement projects through QIckstarter.
Microcredentials
In addition to our QI curriculum workshops, SUNY: Upstate Medical University is also proud to offer microcredentials. These micro-credentials are short, focused credentials that provide learners and faculty members with the in-demand skills, know-how, and experience needed to carry out teaching and leadership opportunities and more.
At the end of each micro-credential course, learners will receive a digital badge they can display on their resume, LinkedIn profile, and more to show others proof of their skills and competencies gained throughout their coursework.
