Fellow Social Life
At Upstate Medical University, we truly believe that the Infectious Disease Fellow social life scene is just as important as their clinical and academic experience. We in the Infectious Disease Fellowship do our best to foster an inviting social atmosphere for our fellows, ensuring they get to know one another on a deeper level and share in their experiences together.
The Infectious Disease fellow social life team at Upstate Medical University organizes regular social gatherings as a part of its inclusive community initiative. These events range from informal get-togethers and festive celebrations, to intellectually stimulating conferences. They present an excellent opportunity for fellows to unwind, interact with peers outside a professional setting, and forge lasting relationships. The fellowship recognizes the importance of work-life balance and strives to create an environment that is not just academically enriching but also socially fulfilling.
Some of the recent events our fellows have participated in include:
Welcome Reception
The Program Director and faculty welcome new fellows by hosting a welcome reception. This event provides an opportunity for newly arriving house staff and guests to get to know the faculty members they will be working with.
Department Picnic
This event welcomes new fellows and families in summer, inviting them to a social picnic at a local picnic venue. This provides an opportunity for newly arriving families to get to know each other.
Institutional Recognition Dinner
At the end of the academic year, a formal graduation awards ceremony is attended by all residents/fellows and guests as well as faculty and staff. The purpose of this dinner is to say goodbye and best wishes to those graduating from the program and to recognize residents/fellows and faculty in the program for various teaching awards.
We are also proud to host various holiday festivities and seasonal events throughout the year, accommodating our wide range of diverse backgrounds within the fellowship.
