Program Overview
The Nephrology Fellowship at Upstate Medical University is a comprehensive two-year program that provides fellows with thorough inpatient and outpatient clinical experience, furthering their education and honing their skills to become well-rounded physicians. Clinical Facilities
Our clinical facilities include:
- 26-station outpatient unit for hemodialysis as well as CAPD/CCPD and home hemodialysis
- Four bed unit for inpatient hemodialysis
- Transplant program with over 100 transplants yearly
- Multiple specialty intensive care units including cardiothoracic surgery
- Neurosurgery
- Stroke care
- Burn unit
- Complete nephropathology services
Clinical Training
Our clinical training program includes the following for all Fellows:
- Responsibility for acute and chronic hemodialysis
- Home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
- Medical aspects of transplantation
- Continuous renal replacement therapies
- Renal biopsy techniques
- Interpretation
Clinical Training Hospitals
Our fellowship is fully accredited by the ACGME and meets all requirements for fellows to successfully complete the ABIM Nephrology Boards.
