Your Care Team
In addition to our physicians, your medical care team may include the following types of professional medical providers and support staff:
A nurse practitioner functions both independently and in conjunction with physicians to perform evaluations and management of services for patients.
A physician assistant functions both independently and in conjunction with physicians in patient care and clinical research settings in order to perform evaluations and management of patient care services.
Registered nurses assist in the care of patients by responding to patient questions, providing ongoing patient education, and otherwise supporting physicians during patient care sessions.
Licensed practical nurses assist primarily by providing nursing support to physicians while working under the supervision of a registered nurse. Typical duties include assisting with intake, procedural documentation assistance, instrument cleaning, and patient discharge.
A resident functions under a fellow/attending's supervision to perform evaluations and management of services for patients.
A fellow functions under the supervision of an attending to perform evaluations and management of services for patients. They work with attendings to supervise residents and medical students.
Medical office assistants are primarily responsible for preparing patients for examinations, setting up appointments, obtaining authorizations for continued care, and the management of medical records.
Our medical secretarial staff members function as schedulers, secretaries, and receptionists.
