As a native of Syracuse, I received my B.A. degree from Syracuse University and my M.D. from Downstate Medical Center. My residency and fellowship training were completed at Boston City Hospital, Brigham’s and Women’s Hospital, and Harvard Medical School. I began my private practice in Syracuse in 1980, following an academic medicine career at Harvard and SUNY Upstate Medical University. I am an American College of Physicians fellow, certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and a member of the Onondaga County Medical Society. I continue as a professor at SUNY Upstate, where I have been teaching medical students and residents since 1977. In 2005, I served as a visiting professor of Internal Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin. Honored as one of America’s Best Doctors in 2007, I’ve authored medical articles and lectured extensively on internal medicine. My interests focus on differential diagnosis and preventative care, including cancer, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, osteoporosis, and wellness maintenance.
